For October’s coffee box we are back in the locality Slöinge and the roastery Slöinge Kafferosteri. This a place we have visited many times and always love to revisit.

GITHIGA AA - Kenya
When you cup the best of the best you feel a little spoiled. Of all great Kenyan coffee we cupped, this stood out. Githiga AA has all what a great Kenyan coffee can have: Intense aroma, high acidity, complex sweetness and super long aftertaste. Grown on high altitude, harvested at the exact right ripeness, processed with passion and skills. Roasted very light to enhance the already high origin character.
GEDEB - Ethiopia
Mijane Worasa is a miller and exporter with a washing station in Gedeb, not far from Yirgacheffe. Working with approx. 400 farmers that grow coffee in gardens or semi forest and deliver their cherries at Mijane’s washing station. For those in need Mijane provides prefinancing and teach them how to best preserve the local forest while farming under the canopy.
El Manantial - Nicaragua
This coffee is a maracaturra which has exceptionally large beans. It ́s a nano lot from one of most talented coffee farmers in Nicaragua, Samuel Zavala. Despite his young age he is one of the most innovative farmers we know of. He inherited his farm from his parents, and he also has a degree in agronomy. This nano lot comes from a new part of his farm El Cambalache and is named El Manantial. Samuel is experimenting a lot with different process techniques, and this one he calls semi-washed. It is more or less a honey process, but the screens on the drying tables are much wider. This lets the pulp drain and fall to the ground. After that, he washes the cherries and dries them again. This method leaves us with a very transparent cup but with the characteristic sweetness from the honey process. A clean and well-balanced coffee that is complex and sweet with a nice fruity touch.
